Welcome . . .Set in the beautiful valley of the River Lune between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lakes District, Kirkby Lonsdale is a picturesque market town with an interesting history. The town was included in the Domesday book of 1086. It has a 13th century charter for fairs and a school dating back to Queen Elizabeth 1st. The view of the River Lune inspired Turner and Ruskin. The town has many speciality shops, 17th and 18th century Inns, a fine Norman Church and the legendary Devils Bridge. National winner of ‘Britain in Bloom’. Kirkby Lonsdale is perfectly placed to offer you several county holidays in one. Easily reached by the motorway network. It is midway between the hills in the National parks of the Lakes and the Dales and the less famous but no less beautiful Howgill range.
